Comprehensive Food System Planning for Urban Food Security in Nanjing, China

Food system planning is important to achieve the goal of “zero hunger” in UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (UN, 2016). However, discussion about comprehensive food security scarce and little known situation Chinese cities. To narrow this gap, study collected analyzed four medium-term plans two annual “vegetable basket project” Nanjing, China. This examines strategies urban Nanjing shed light on how city developed a approach over past three decades. The evolution incremental provides valuable lessons other cities facing challenges shortages financial resources.
